The year was 1957. A young salesman by the name of Tal Anderson became part owner of the Johnny Baxter Dealership. After decades of hard work, unwavering commitment and exceptional service to each and every customer, Anderson became the sole owner. His dedication and vision were the driving force behind the company’s decades of success, which today stands at 20 dealerships across four states. Today the Baxter Auto Group is one of the top 40 automotive groups in the country, serving the communities of Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska, the greater Kansas City area, Colorado Springs and Madison, Wisconsin.

A Long History Of Serving Customers And Communities

1957
Johnny Baxter entered the auto business in 1957 when he purchased an existing dealership in Omaha. He soon hired a young man working his way through college—Talton “Tal” Anderson. After working for Johnny for only three years, Tal bought into the business. By 1984, he was the sole owner of the Baxter Chrysler Plymouth dealership.

1988
Four years later, Tal expanded into Bellevue, Nebraska with a Toyota dealership that soon became the largest Toyota dealership in four states. Tal opened Omaha’s first luxury brand dealership in 1990 with Lexus of Omaha. And he didn’t stop there. Over the next few decades, Tal and the Baxter family expanded across Nebraska and into Kansas.

2018
Today, Baxter Auto has nearly 19 dealerships in three states. Tal’s daughter and son—Angie, and Mickey—remain an integral part of the Baxter Auto business. Along with the rest of the company’s leadership, they remain committed to Tal’s vision of providing unmatched service and outstanding vehicles—as well as serving the communities they call home.
