Service with a laugh
Travis Johnson jumped into the automotive world as a Lot Porter for Rusty Eck Ford’s sales team, before it became Baxter Ford South. He stayed on after the acquisition and became a Lot Porter for service. He was a stand-out in customer service so he got the chance to become an Express Lane Service Advisor, where he remains to this day.
“I guess they saw I was good with customers,” he said recently.
“I just treat people the way I want to be treated.”
“Travis is just an extremely likable guy,” said Paul Williams, Ford South’s Service Manager. “In 2017, he brought in the most surveys and had the highest CSI scores.”
We talked with Travis for a while, for this story—about his upbringing, his work history, and why he excels at work. But in the end, he swears his success comes down to one thing: “I care as much about relationships as I do about sales. I don’t want people to cringe at the idea of coming out to get an oil change, I want people to be excited.”
